The view from the 6th Hole is spectacular. The golf course designer Yves Bureau balanced the green on the edge of cliffs overlooking the town and harbour of Port-en-Bessin while offering a superb view over reminders of the D-Day Landings - the artificial port at Arromanches and the artillery bunkers at Longues-sur-Mer. Views of the sea are to be had everywhere from the Course – from the 1st green, all along the 5th, from the 2nd hole, a superb Par 3 in line with the Vauban Tower, from the 6th hole of course but also the 7th, a long Par 4 with its back to the sea and then from the 9th with its tee just behind the water trap. Golfers of all levels will enjoy the Course’s dominant colours of the blue from the sea and green from the surrounding countryside . As part of the D-Day 50th Anniversary each of the Course’s holes were renamed in homage to the leaders of that memorial event – 1st General D.EISENHOWER – 2nd Sir W.CHURCHILL – 3rd General Charles DE GAULLE – 4th Field Marshal P.KOENIG – 5th Filed Marshal Maréchal B.L. MONTGOMERY – 6th General O.BRADLEY – 7th General C.L. GERGARDT – 8th General G.S. PATTON – 9th Colonel RUDDE |
